Meet Rachel Schnetzler

September 15, 2021

After five years as an attorney with Warrick & Boyn, Rachel Schnetzler can tell you a thing or two about practicing law she couldn’t have as a child dreaming of a career on the other side of the bar.

“I expected to read and write a lot, which I definitely do,” she said, “but I didn’t expect to practice in the areas I am, especially alcohol licensing, which has turned into an exciting and interesting area that I enjoy, along with my business startup, and trademark work.”

Breweries and Law School

Rachel joined Warrick & Boyn after graduating from law school in 2016. Since then, she has supported small business owners and larger established companies in growing and protecting their livelihoods, now an area of her expertise. Assisting with a brewery startup was a project particularly close to her heart, after watching her father establish his first brewery and restaurant, Mad Anthony Brewing Company, when she was eight years old.

“The most satisfying part of what I do is helping someone on their journey to make their dream happen,” she said. “I also love solving problems and making things easier for people, so the projects that allow me to help with that are especially valuable.”

Business in Elkhart County

Rachel believes the area of her practice that focuses on the concerns of business owners, itself a community of innovators and problem-solvers, gives her a deeper appreciation for Elkhart County’s distinct character.

“I find Elkhart’s energy to be unique in that it is fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit,” she said. “Maybe it is because I am more professionally engaged in the context of helping local businesses that I am more aware of this than I’ve ever been, but I think it’s something that makes Elkhart special.”

This growing entrepreneurial spirit is ever-evolving, and Schnetzler works on behalf of her Warrick & Boyn clients to keep it that way.

“So many new businesses have started in Elkhart in the past few years since I have been here, and it’s exciting to watch it continue to grow and develop!” she said. “My goal for my own work is also to continue to grow both my practice and my knowledge to better assist my clients.”

Family Business in Michiana

A native of Angola, Rachel said her colleagues at Warrick & Boyn have helped make Elkhart a home for her and her family.

In what time she has away from work, Rachel tries to take full advantage of the natural beauty and activities offered by the relative closeness of the lake near her, as well as Michiana’s craft breweries and wineries.

She says she finds everything in her life to be sweeter now, though, when spent in the company of her littlest companion, seven-month-old Jackson.

“My newest and greatest joy is my son, Jackson,” Rachel said. “Anything involving him is my favorite.”
