We are seeking an attorney with at least 3 years of litigation experience to join our team. The attorney will appear in court, conduct legal research, draft pleadings and motions, and engage in all aspects of litigation. Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and a working knowledge of the rules of evidence, procedure, and professional conduct. Candidates must have the ability to adapt to changing priorities and be able to meet deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review investigative information, prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence.
  • Attend hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations, primarily in Northern IN and Southwest MI.
  • Frequent telephone and in-person interaction with client representatives, courts, opposing attorneys, insureds, lay witnesses, expert witnesses
  • Communicate with attorneys, insurance claim representatives, and others to negotiate cases to resolution
  • Perform online research and prepare research memoranda as needed
  • Evaluate cases and exercise judgment to determine effective solutions, discuss potential solutions and recommendations with client representatives
  • Update electronic case management system with new file developments according to internal case management procedures
  • Oversee and work with paralegals and support staff
  • Manage multiple deadlines and due dates effectively
  • Other tasks as needed

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana
  • A desire to excel in a fast-paced litigation practice involving frequent court appearances 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to work independently, managing competing priorities, and a fluid schedule
  • Ability to work well with a variety of personalities in a team environment
  • Comfortable using a variety of computer programs as tools to improve efficiency
  • Moot court or other litigation experience required
