Growing up in Edwardsburg, Michigan, associate attorney Ashli Hunsberger always knew where she was headed. “I have wanted to be an attorney for as long as I can remember,” she reflects.
As a lifelong Michiana local from a family of entrepreneurs, Ashli knew she wanted to stay and serve the community she loved. “The Michiana area is an amazing place to live, work, and raise children. I’ve watched this place grow and evolve, and I’ve seen how important it is to have legal professionals who understand the local business climate and the families who call this place home. My family has always been involved in business, so I have seen firsthand the opportunities and challenges of building something in this market. I never questioned coming home again. This is where I belong. It’s where I can make the biggest difference,” she remarks.
In college, Ashli began to see her path forward clearly. “It was in undergrad and during law school that I decided I wanted to focus on estate planning and corporate law,” she explains. “These areas are so foundational to people’s lives and businesses. With corporate law, you’re helping business owners and stakeholders with everything from formation to major transactions. I advise people as they build their dreams into something real, concrete, and worth protecting. With estate planning, it’s very similar. I help families safeguard and pass on what they have built. I help them ensure their legacy continues. Both areas let me be a part of supporting people as they build and share their success. I find that so meaningful and impactful.”
When it comes to corporate law, Ashli’s drive to keep growing so she can serve as an expert and an asset to her clients is evident. “Corporate law fascinates me because there is such a broad spectrum of work within the practice area that there is always more to learn,” she notes. Ashli brings a focused, personal approach to her work with each client. She starts with a deep understanding of the local community and business landscape, giving her clients an edge. Then, getting to know them and fully understanding their goals is the next critical step. As she sees it, talking through a client’s goals and exploring how she can help, guide, and advise them are the keys to helping them achieve what they set out to do.
While corporate law satisfies Ashli’s analytical mind, it’s estates and estate planning where her heart for service becomes clear. “Being able to help clients navigate the hard process of an estate when a loved one has died is tremendously fulfilling,” she explains. She is sensitive to the needs and concerns of the families she counsels, understanding that families are “not only navigating their grief, but now they have to navigate the legal world.”

Out in the community, she serves on the board of Joy Blooms, a unique local nonprofit that combines sustainability with community joy. Joy Blooms collects and repurposes floral arrangements to distribute to nursing home residents, domestic violence survivors, and local heroes like teachers and healthcare workers.
Ashli is also on the advisory board for Rose Garden Recovery, an organization that helps women navigate sober living by providing a safe and loving environment while they work to reunite with family, return to their community, and establish healthy relationships.
